Robbed by a friend
A Chatham man faces robbery charges after Chatham-Kent police say he pulled a knife on a buddy and demanded he empty his pockets.
The incident took place early Sunday morning, as police were called just after 4 a.m. to a residence on Grand Avenue West in Chatham.
Police learned the victim was at a friend’s home when the man confronted him. The man demanded the victim turn over the contents of his pockets while threatening him with a knife, police say.
The man was located at his residence and arrested. Upon a search, incident to arrest, suspected cocaine was found in the man’s possession.
Officers also confirmed the man was bound by a release order prohibiting him from possessing any weapons.
A 36-year-old Chatham man was charged with robbery, failing to comply with a release order and possessing a controlled substance. He was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.
Put up your dukes…and be cuffed
A Merlin man is facing assault charges after a scuffle at a business on Queen’s Line Sunday afternoon.
Chatham-Kent police investigated shortly after noon and learned a dispute between two men escalated when one assaulted the other. There was also evidence to charge the man with theft.
The 55-year-old Merlin man was charged with assault and theft.
Assault in Tilbury
A Tilbury teen has to answer to charges after police say he knocked his mother to the ground, kicked her and then punched the television.
Police were called shortly after 11 p.m. to Mill Street West in Tilbury.
Police learned a verbal argument occurred between a teenage boy and his mother. The argument escalated when there was a struggle over a cell phone. The mother fell to the ground, and the youth kicked her, police say. The youth then punched a TV, causing it to break.
The youth was located by police and arrested.
A 17-year-old Tilbury teen was charged with assault and mischief.
