Woman charged with assault
A Chatham woman faces assault charges after Chatham-Kent police say she punched a man in the face Monday morning.
At 6:03 a.m., police responded to a home on Wellington Street in Chatham for a disturbance.
Officers learned the woman and the man engaged in a verbal argument that escalated when the woman struck the man in the face with a closed fist, resulting in a minor physical injury, police say.
Officers also discovered the woman was wanted on an outstanding warrant for possession of stolen property.
A 29-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with assault.
Teen ignores curfew, charged
One of the youths charged recently for aggravated assault in Chatham landed back in police custody Monday evening.
On Oct. 7, police say the male youth was arrested for aggravated assault and released with conditions which included a curfew requiring him to be at his home between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.
On Monday, officers learned the teen was not complying with the curfew, police say.
Through investigation, the investigating officer formed grounds to charge the youth with failing to comply with a release order. At 9:05 p.m., the investigating officer attended an address in Chatham that the youth is known to visit. When the officer knocked on the door, the youth answered.
A 17-year-old Chatham youth was arrested and charged with two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
Aylmer man charged with assault
An Aylmer man has to deal with assault charges following an intimate partner violence investigation by C-K police.
On Monday evening at 9:10 p.m., police responded to Colby Road in Ridgetown for a domestic dispute.
After investigating, the officers discovered the man had acted aggressively towards the woman during the evening, police say. Officers learned the man had vandalized the woman’s property and assaulted her, according to police.
A 26-year-old Aylmer man was arrested and charged with mischief and assault.
No knives allowed
A local man faces charges following an altercation on Third Street in Chatham Monday morning.
At 6:29 a.m., police responded to a business on Third Street. According to the information received, a man was present at the business and was repeatedly asked to leave, but he refused to comply.
People also suspected he had a knife.
Upon arriving at the scene, the officers successfully located the man and took him into custody for trespassing. During the arrest, a knife was discovered in his possession. Further investigation confirmed that the man was under specific conditions that prohibited him from having weapons.
A 38-year-old Chatham-Kent man was charged with breach of probation. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
