Stunt driving on winding road
Grand River Line follows the twists and bends of the Thames River for the most part. Yet, apparently, all those curves didn’t stop someone from being clocked doing nearly double the speed limit Sunday afternoon.
A Chatham-Kent police officer pulled over a vehicle for doing 118 km/h in a 60-km/h zone. The incident took place about 3:15 p.m. Sunday.
A 58-year-old Chatham woman has been summoned to court and received a 30-day license suspension as well as her vehicle being towed and impounded for 14 days.
She turned herself in
A woman turned herself in to the police two days after police say since she was identified during a theft investigation.
On Friday, a woman was caught on a surveillance camera, police say, during their investigation in Tilbury. After police identified the woman, a warrant was issued for her arrest.
A 20-year-old Chatham woman was charged with two counts of theft and two counts of possession of stolen property after she showed up at police headquarters Sunday evening.
Arrested on DNA warrant
Police were called to Wallace Street in Wallaceburg for suspicious activity shortly before 10:30 p.m. Sunday.
After police arrived, they were able to figure out that a man was wanted for failing to attend court.
A 47-year-old Walpole Island man was arrested. After the warrant was fulfilled to provide a DNA sample, the man was released unconditionally.
