Why are you running?

Community involvement is something I have always valued deeply and it’s important to me to continue to have a positive and responsible role in strengthening and moving Chatham-Kent forward.

What are the key issues?

This past term of council has been the most challenging I have experienced to say the least. Shoreline issues, the Wheatley explosion, COVID-19, our environment, and growing issues surrounding housing and homelessness are some of the top issues we face as a council and a community.

What do you hope to achieve if elected?

Addressing housing and homelessness in Chatham-Kent has become a growing priority. Our citizens – taxpayers or not – deserve affordable and safe housing. I will support existing and new initiatives to increase housing in Chatham-Kent as well as supportive housing for individuals who struggle to live independently.

Recovery from the pandemic is important as we seem to be emerging. I hope that we all will work toward rebuilding economic and social wellness for our community.

What skills and experience do you bring?

I have completed 12 years at the council table which has provided me with experience about municipal affairs. Committee work on the Police Service Board, Public Utilities Commission, Board of Health, Chatham BIA, Age Friendly, to name a few, has broadened my knowledge in municipal areas that are important work as councillors. On a different level, my grassroots work in our neighbourhood for over 20 years gives me insight into social issues facing our citizens.

I have always used my life experience, integrity and honesty when making decisions on behalf of all citizens of Chatham-Kent.

As we go forward with recovery and rebuilding, this opportunity for learning and growing will be a path we will take together supporting a healthy C-K.
