Knife, chair fight leads to charges

Three men received the steel bracelets courtesy of Chatham-Kent police officers after a fight on Michener Road in Chatham last night.

Police received a call about 7:20 p.m. of a disturbance on the road.

Officers arrived and learned two men engaged in a physical dispute involving a knife and a chair.

A third man was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

A 35-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault and assault with a weapon. He was transported to police headquarters and then to the hospital for medical attention. He was released into the hospital’s care. The need for medical care was not a result of the altercation, police say.

A 53-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault and assault with a weapon.

A 51-year-old Chatham man was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

Mischief and assault

An apparent temper tantrum led to the arrest of a woman in Wallaceburg Monday.

Police say they received a call shortly after 6:15 p.m. of a disturbance on James Street.

Through investigation, police learned that the woman attended the residence and caused property damage, including breaking a window and throwing garbage around.

The woman left but returned approximately 20 minutes later. When she was told to leave, she engaged in a verbal altercation with others that escalated into a physical altercation when she attempted to enter the home forcibly, police say.

The woman left before the police arrived.

A 29-year-old Chatham-Kent woman was located, arrested and charged with assault, uttering threats and two counts of mischief.

Bail violation

The courts released a woman Monday morning with conditions, including not communicating with a man and not attending any place he is known to live or work.

Yet police say that at 1:32 p.m., they received information the woman attended the man’s home in Chatham.

Upon arrival, the police observed the woman exiting the home. They arrested her.

A 48-year-old Chatham woman was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
