Firearm seized
Police received information that a man was illegally in possession of a firearm.
A Criminal Code search warrant was applied for and granted.
Early this morning, officers executed the warrant at the man’s residence in Chatham and seized a .50 cal. rifle.
A 24-year-old man was arrested and charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, careless storage of a firearm and possession of a firearm, contrary to a Prohibition Order. He was also arrested on outstanding warrants for uttering threats, possession of ammunition contrary to a Prohibition Order and failing to attend court.
He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Hiding in the bathroom
Shortly after 7 a.m. yesterday morning, Chatham-Kent police responded to the report of a suspicious woman, attempting to steal property from a business on Longwoods Road in Chatham.
Officers located the woman hiding in the washroom of a business on Grand Avenue East just before 8 a.m.
Through investigation, police identified the woman and she was trespassed from the business on Longwoods Road, police say.
A 48-year-old woman was also arrested on several outstanding warrants. She was held in custody pending a bail hearing and released with a future court date of June 1.
Youth faces assault charge
Yesterday, police responded to a family dispute at a residence in Chatham.
Through investigation, police learned that the youth assaulted a family member and had previously caused damage in the home.
A 14-year-old youth was arrested and charged with assault and mischief under $5,000.
Woman charged with assault
Last night, police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Tilbury.
Through investigation, police learned that the woman assaulted her common-law husband.
A 26-year-old woman was arrested and charged with assault.
Prohibited from driving
Just before 11 p.m. last night, police initiated a traffic stop in the area of Merritt Avenue in Chatham.
Through investigation, police learned that the woman was a prohibited driver.
A 56-year-old Tilbury woman was arrested and charged with driving while prohibited.
Her vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for 45 days as per the Vehicle Impoundment Program.
