We’re still not ready for day camps in Chatham-Kent for our children, according to C-K’s medical officer of health, Dr. David Colby.

Day camps for children in Chatham-Kent remain prohibited, according to CK Public Health officials.

In response to reports the Ford government has stated summer camps might be able to run in July and August, Public Health officials stressed day camps are still not allowed locally at this time.

In fact, the provincial government and C-K’s medical officer of health, Dr. David Colby, put emergency orders in place two months ago temporarily banning such camps. Colby has not rescinded the local order as of yet.

Furthermore, new cases of COVID-19 infection in Ontario are trending in the wrong direct.

“While camps cannot operate at this time, this is not permanent for our community” Colby said in a media release. “We recognize this may be challenging news, and would like to thank our community partners for their co-operation in maintaining physical distancing and group numbers five or less.”
