Chatham-Kent police say they have had to deal with two COVID-19 people who broke their quarantines.
The identities of those involved cannot be identified, police say, under the Health Protection and Promotion Act.
Officers have served a Form-22 order to two COVID-19 patients who were accused of breaking their home quarantine, police report.
This order is issued by a Medical Officer of Health under the Health Protection and Promotion Act when a communicable disease poses an imminent health risk to the public.
One measure available to the Medical Officer of Health is an enforced quarantine of the infected person.
Failure to abide this order can result in a fine of $5,000 for each day/occurrence this order is breached.
This order was served by members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service.
Police urge citizens who have tested COVID-19 positive or are ill but are awaiting results to follow your health-care provider’s instructions.
“You have a moral obligation to the people you share this community with. If you test positive for Covid-19 and choose to disregard your personal responsibilities, you are liable under the law,” according to a police media release.
