Snowmobiles, and more, stolen on the weekend

It was a light-fingered weekend around Chatham-Kent, as the thieves were quite active.

Two snowmobiles were stolen off their trailer in Wheatley overnight Saturday.

Police say two 2017 Artic Cats, one a Lynx and the other a ZR6 were taken from a Talbot Road East driveway.

Total value of the theft is estimated at $25,000.

Sometime between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., someone broke into the Armoury on William Street in Chatham, making off with booze, four 1900s swords, an antique rifle bayonet, a 42-inch Sony TV and four Daisy 853C .177 air rifles.

On Sunday afternoon, about 2:30 p.m., police say a woman tried to steal a jump starter kit from Wal-Mart in Chatham.

A 49-year-old Chatham woman is charged with theft.

Someone briefly made off with a set of Beats Solo headphones when two men met to come to an agreement on the sale of those headphones.

About 7 p.m. last night, police say two people agreed to meet on Wellington Street West in Chatham to finalize a deal. But the potential buyer grabbed the headphones and ran.

The victim went to police headquarters to report the incident. Officers attended the area of the theft and found a suspect, recovering the headphones in the process.

A 35-year-old Moraviantown man is charged with theft.
