Chatham-Kent has another warm-weather festival to look forward to this summer as Summit Shows Canada brings CK Summer Fest to Chatham in support of the local CK Animal Rescue.
CK Summer Fest is a two-day day festival that will take place in Tecumseh Park and will feature live entertainment, beverage garden, vendors and larger-than-life beach themed décor and activities.
The event will take place June 15 and 16 and will be free to the public.
Summit Shows Canada owner Chris Glassford said plans are already taking shape and vendor spots are already filling up.
“People are really intrigued by the theme and the idea of Summer Fest in general, often asking us how they can get involved,” Glassford said in a media release. “It seems to be a theme that could catch on and grow for years to come.”
The charitable beneficiary CK Animal Rescue is excited to be a part of the event and plans to offer support throughout the process with volunteers and suggestions. CK Animal Rescue founder Nancy Ball reached out to Glassford last year looking for an innovative and fresh way to raise money for the rescue.
“We wanted an event that would allow us to raise funds for our rescue and after a few event trials that left us with very little funds and an abundance of work, we realized we needed to try something bigger,” Ball said in a release. “CK Summer Fest is that perfect event we believe and we hope to do it annually.”
CK Animal Rescue is a registered non-profit organization founded in 2010 and based out of Chatham. The rescue operates in the Chatham-Kent, Windsor-Essex and Sarnia-Lambton regions. The rescue is dedicated to taking in local surrendered dogs and dogs scheduled to be euthanized in high-kill shelters. They also provide temporary foster care service through The Purple Leash program, which helps owners who are fleeing from domestic violence and abuse, or may be hospitalized for a temporary period of time.
