Suicide is one of the leading causes of death in the world, especially among young people. The Suicide Prevention and Education Committee of Chatham-Kent is joining international efforts to prevent suicide with a presentation by Youth Changing Lives Award recipient Melissa Kinghorn on World Suicide Prevention Day Sept. 10.
Over the past nine months, Kinghorn, a teacher and suicide survivor, has been asked to share her powerful message on bullying and suicide prevention with OPP and Windsor Police officers, and more than 1,000 students.
On Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Chatham-Kent Library branch on Queen Street in Chatham, Kinghorn will share her story and the public is welcome to attend this free event.
