Get those late fees scrubbed clean and start fresh with the Chatham-Kent Public Library.
Library patrons can visit any CKPL branch to have old overdue fines cleared from their account.
CKPL recognizes that overdue fines can be a barrier to accessing library services, library officials said.
As of 2026, CKPL has eliminated overdue fines on almost all library materials. As part of CKPL’s continued effort to remove barriers to library access, CKPL is launching the “Start a New Chapter” campaign. Through this initiative, CKPL hopes that anyone who is not using the library due to outstanding fines will feel welcome to return to the library and resume using library services.
To participate in this initiative, CKPL patrons can visit their local CKPL branch to update their library account and staff will waive existing overdue fines.
Please note that some limitations will apply. Replacement charges for unreturned or damaged items cannot be waived through this initiative.
The campaign will run until Oct. 24.
