Chatham‑Kent’s first‑ever Battle of the Badges is in the fundraising books.
The event brought together frontline responders from Chatham‑Kent police, OPP, Chatham‑Kent Fire & Rescue, EMS, and First Nations police for a “friendly, high‑energy competition in support of Chatham‑Kent Crime Stoppers,” according to a media release.
Hosted at the Rondeau Rod & Gun Club, the event featured a full slate of challenges, including rifle, archery, trap, skeet, and action handgun competitions. Teams from across emergency services and a civilian team showcased their skills, teamwork, and camaraderie in a day designed to celebrate partnership and community spirit.
C-K’s top cop Kirk Earley said the event was a hit.
“Battle of the Badges was an outstanding success and a proud moment for all emergency services in Chatham‑Kent,” he said in a media release. “Together, we raised more than $14,000, which will be invested directly into community safety initiatives that benefit every service and every resident we serve.”
The funds raised will support Crime Stoppers’ ongoing efforts to enhance public safety, encourage anonymous reporting, and strengthen community‑driven crime prevention across Chatham‑Kent.
