911cell

Chatham-Kent police say between Monday and Wednesday of this week, the 911 call centre received 47 hang-up calls where someone dialed 911 and then hung up.

A number of these calls came from accidental pocket dials from cell phone users, police say.

If you have 911 on speed dial, police ask that you remove it. The three numbers are pretty easy to remember … and dial.

Police also remind folks the non-emergency police line for incidents that have already occurred, such as a vehicle break-in sometime overnight, is 519-352-1234.

The 911 lines are for emergencies only, and police ask people to help keep the lines clear for emergency calls.
