Health warning at tattoo shop

Another local business is under the CK Public Health microscope.

Willows Tattoo and Piercing, a Grand Avenue West business in Chatham, was recently identified by public health officials as having inadequate equipment disinfection practices.

Officials added Willows was “an unlicensed tattoo and piercing provider,” as it was operating without having been inspected.

Anyone who has work done at Willows between Oct. 1 of last year and March 23 is encouraged to contact their health-care provider to arrange a clinical assessment.

Those without a health-care provider should visit a walk‑in clinic for evaluation.

Insufficient infection control procedures during tattoo and piercing services increases the risk of transmitting blood-borne infections, such as HIV or Hepatitis, as well as infections of the skin, public health officials said in a media release.
