Five months after a break and enter, police arrested their suspect.

Chatham-Kent police say a man broke into a Tweedsmuir Avenue home Feb. 18 and was confronted by the homeowner, who was in the middle of cooking dinner.

The thwarted thief fled on foot.

Police investigated and seized evidence for forensic analysis.

Last month, the Centre of Forensic Sciences notified Chatham-Kent police it had generated a DNA profile and it matched that of a local man.

On Wednesday night, police located a man on Grand Avenue East and made their arrest.
