B&E charges

A Chatham man faces multiple charges after someone got into a home under construction in Chatham on Thursday.

Police were called and the suspect fled the Northland Drive construction site prior to officers arriving on scene.

However, based on descriptions of the man provided by witnesses, the suspect was located a short distance away and arrested.

A Chatham man, 27, is charged with break and enter, possession of stolen property, mischief, and breach of probation.

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Impaired charge

Apparently, with all the talk about separation in Alberta, one Alberta man opted to try to separate a road sign from the ground Thursday evening.

Police say they received a report of a possible impaired driver on King Street West in Chatham. Witnesses said the vehicle was swerving and may have struck a sign.

Officers tracked down the vehicle on St. Clair Street and pulled it over.

Through investigation, it was determined that the driver of the vehicle was impaired by alcohol.

A 35-year-old Alberta man is charged with impaired. There’s no separating him from his future court date.
