He ran, officers caught him.
And now a Chatham man is up on various drug trafficking charges.
Chatham-Kent police say officers went to a motel on Grand Avenue East in Chatham shortly before 1 a.m. Monday. The visit was in connection of an investigation over a fail-to-remain collision.
The officers spotted a man leaving a motel room carrying a bag. When he spotted the cops, police say the man tried to escape on foot.
He dumped the bag behind a car, but officers found it, and apprehended the man, police say.
Inside that bag was about $20,000 in cash, more than half a kilo (600 grams) of suspected cocaine, and 34 grams in suspected fentanyl.
As a result, a Chatham man, 19, is charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.
