A booze-fueled altercation led to the arrest of a Wallaceburg man on Friday.

The investigation began when the OPP notified Chatham-Kent police about 7:30 a.m. Friday of an assault. The victim had to be taken to hospital to be treated for head injuries.

Both police services investigated, and learned that, earlier that morning, a man, believed to be intoxicated, entered a Wallaceburg residence and began shouting obscenities. This led to an argument, which rapidly escalated, police say.

The suspect then teed off on the victim, according to police, hitting him several times in the head with a golf club.

Police found the club and arrested their suspect.

A Wallaceburg man, 24, is charged with assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm.
