Plenty of change is afoot at St. Clair Catholic District School Board.
Recently, the SCCDSB named Jen Morrow as superintendent of education following Lisa Demer’s appointment as director of education.
According to a board media release, Morrow brings more than 20 years of experience in Catholic education to the role, currently serving as the system principal of special education for the SCCDSB.
Throughout her career, she’s led a number of innovation programs, including Project Search, which helps students with special needs transition into employment.
Morrow, who assumed the post April 1, has also worked as an elementary school principal and vice-principal, as well as a system program resource consultant.
Demers had words of praise for her colleague.
“Jen has made a lasting impact on our schools through her deep commitment to equity, inclusion, and student success,” Demers stated in the release. “She is a collaborative leader who always puts students first, and we are thrilled to see her step into this role where she will continue to inspire and support staff, students, and families across our system.”
Morrow holds a Master of Education degree with a focus on curriculum studies, and is a qualified specialist in special and religious education.
According to Morrow, she is “truly honoured and humbled” to stop into the role of education superintendent.
“Catholic education has been my life’s work, and I am deeply passionate about ensuring that every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential,” Morrow stated. “This opportunity is a blessing, and I am grateful for the chance to serve our Catholic school communities in this way.”
Morrow is replacing Demers as a superintendent. Demers is taking over the helm as director following Scott Johnson’s retirement.
The board also recently named its student trustees for 2025.
In the south part of the district, Ursuline College Chatham student Cristian Suffi, will be the voice of student in Chatham-Kent.
According a recent media release, Suffi is a well-rounded student known for his academic involvement. He’s an honour roll student, an active athlete, performer and volunteer with Lancer Link.
Fluent in both English and Italian, Suffi brings a global perspective and passion for personal growth to the role.
St. Patrick’s Catholic High School student Katelyn Murphy will represent students in Sarnia-Lambton.
“Having student voices at our table is a powerful reminder of who we serve and why our work matters,” Demers said.
The student trustee role provides an opportunity for student leaders to contribute to board discussions, represent the interests of their peers, and help shape the future of Catholic education.
