Chatham-Kent police report a man who had a bail hearing on March 24 was arrested for violating his bail conditions that same night.

The arrest took place about 10:45 p.m. at a residence on Park Avenue West in Chatham.

Earlier in the day, police say the man was in a bail hearing stemming from a prior incident where he allegedly assaulted two family members.

The man was released from custody with conditions, including not to be within 50 metres of any location where he knows the complainants live, work, go to school or just frequent, as well as to not communicate with them in any way.

However, later that night, police were called, as they say the accused was on the property trying to access the rear door of a residence on his no-go list.

Officers arrived soon thereafter, found the man and made an arrest.

A 54-year-old Chatham man is charged with two counts of failing to comply.
