Municipal officials have updated a boil water advisory they issued earlier Tuesday morning.

The advisory, issued due to a drop in water pressure in the system, is for everyone connected to the Chatham-Kent water distribution system in Mitchell’s Bay, Grande Pointe and Bass Haven.

In Mitchell’s Bay, this includes locations on Winterline Road; Bay Line, up to and including Mitchell’s Bay;, and the stretch of Winterline Road north of Mitchell’s Bay, up to and including Haven Line and Bassette Line.

In Grande Pointe, affected locations begin at 7219 St. Phillippes Line and property to the west, up to the intersection of St. Philippes Line and Winterline Road; 7142 and 7143 St. Philippes Line and properties to the west, up to 25658 Jacob Road; Big Pointe Road north of St. Philippes Line, up to 6481 Mallard Line; all customers on municipal water north of the intersection of St. Philippes Line and Winterline Road, including 7255 Marsh Line and 7202 Angler Line; and Angler Line west of Winterline Road, up to and including North Waterfront Reservation, Richmond Road and North Street.

Acting medical officer of health Dr. Shanker Nesathurai advises residents to bring the water to a rolling boil for at least one minute prior to using it for domestic purposes, such as drinking, making infant formula and juice, brushing teeth, washing raw foods and making ice. Alternatively, safe bottled water sources can be used for consumption.
This advisory will remain in effect until the Health Unit receives additional information from the Public Utilities Commission.
