It’s detour time on Queen’s Line between Chatham and Tilbury.
Work is underway on the installation of a roundabout at the intersection of Queen’s Line and Merlin Road, along with the rehabilitation of the bridge over Government Drain No. 1 just west of the intersection.
Construction is being completed in two phases, with work underway this year to realign Merlin Road north and south of Queens Line, followed by work in Spring 2025 to realign Queens Line, create the roundabout and complete rehabilitation of the bridge.
As a result, Merlin Road is now closed from Gleeson Line to McDougall Line. Reduced speed limits have been implemented along Queen’s Line through this area as part of the construction work and will remain in place once the new roundabout is built.
The municipality has hired Huron Construction to complete the two projects under one contract.
