Summer assault suspect arrested

Chatham-Kent police say a man wanted since late June in connection to a serious assault got scooped up Saturday night in North Buxton.

Police were called about 11:15 p.m. for a disturbance related to a large gathering of people on A.D. Shadd Road in North Buxton. Officers arrived and spotted a man wanted in connection with the June incident. He earned a pair of steel bracelets and a ride in the back of a police cruiser.

On June 30, police began investigating after five men had allegedly assaulted another man, causing grievous bodily harm.

A 28-year-old North Buxton man was arrested Saturday on the strength of a warrant, transported to police headquarters for processing, and ultimately released on an Undertaking with conditions and a future court date.

Burnouts lead to charges

A young Chatham man faces stunt driving charges after Chatham-Kent police caught someone doing donuts in a parking lot Saturday evening.

Police were in the area doing a traffic blitz on St. Clair Street after repeated reports over the past several months of vehicles performing stunts and riving dangerously through parking lots.

Police say the behaviour has been going on for several months.

A 21-year-old Chatham man faces stunt driving charges.

B&E arrest
A daylight break-in attempt in Chatham has led to charges against a Blenheim man.

On Friday about 12:20 p.m., police learned of an active break and enter into a residence on Colborne Street in Chatham. Officers immediately responded and located a male suspect still inside the dwelling.

He tried to flee, police say, but was arrested a short distance away from the residence.

A 39-year-old Blenheim man is charged with breaking and entering.

A Chatham woman faces charges after police removed her from a dwelling Sunday night.

Police went to a Harvey Street address shortly before 11 p.m. after receive a report of an unwanted person.

The new owner of building had learned that someone was currently in one of the lower units, and advised police that no one was supposed to be inside, as it was believed to be vacant.

Police located a lone woman inside.

After initially being arrested and charged for being unlawfully in a dwelling, a 43-year-old Chatham woman ultimately was charged with entering a premises when entry was prohibited, a provincial offence.
