Door smashed, but nothing taken

Police are looking for whoever broke into a Chatham business early Thursday morning.

The break-in took place at a business on Richmond Street in Chatham about 2:30 a.m., based on video surveillance.

Someone broke the glass door and rummaged through the cash register, police say.

Ultimately, nothing was taken, as the owner confirmed as much to investigating officers.

Damage is estimated at $1,000.

This investigation is still ongoing.

Woman charged with robbery

A Chatham woman faces robbery charges following a rough exit from a Chatham store Thursday evening.

Police got the call about 6 p.m. Officers learned that a woman stole several items from a Keil Drive South business, pushing two employees as she left the store, police say. No one was injured.

Officers located a woman in the area who matched a description provided by store staff. They made the arrest near Warwick Drive.

A 30-year-old Chatham woman was identified by officers from previous police involvement, and subsequently placed under arrest for one count of robbery and one count of possession of property obtained by crime.
