Window smashed; cash drawer taken

Police are looking for information into who smashed a store window on King Street West early Monday morning in Chatham.

An officer on patrol spotted the broken window around 3:15 a.m. and located a cash drawer nearby.

Officers cleared the interior of the business and said everything was in order other than the missing cash drawer.

The owner confirmed that no other damage was caused, and only the monetary funds from the cash drawer were taken.

Estimated damage and loss was approximately $1,100.

This investigation is still ongoing.

Garage entered on Taylor

The property owner is still trying to determine what was stolen, but police say someone got into a garage on Taylor Avenue recently.

The incident was reported on Sunday, but it could have happened any time over a five-day period.

This investigation is still ongoing.

June assault suspect arrested

Police arrested a man on the weekend wanted in connection with an early summer assault investigation.

The man was arrested Sunday at 10 a.m.

A 53-year-old man is charged with assault causing bodily harm.

Aggravated assault

A Combermere man faces charges following a recent scrap in Ridgetown.

Police say there was an altercation on Sept. 20 involving two adult males. One wound up being taken to the hospital.

A 66-year-old Combermere man is charged with aggravated assault and uttering threats.

Man charged for spitting on a cop

A Chatham man faces more charges than what initially got him arrested.

Police say officers arrested a man on outstanding warrants for failing to attend court and breach of probation recently.

While in custody, police say he damaged the cell block area and then reacted to learning he would face additional mischief charges by spitting on an officer, which is deemed assault.

A 41-year-old Chatham man was held pending a bail hearing to answer to the new charges.
