A London man is facing impaired driving charges after someone was spotted driving the wrong way on Highway 401 on the weekend.
Chatham-Kent OPP credit calls from several Good Samaritans for quickly alerting them to the issue.
It happened around 3:20 a.m. Saturday when calls began pouring in over a passenger vehicle heading west in the eastbound lanes of the highway near Orford Road.
As police headed to the area, they received an update that the vehicle had turned around to head east … in the eastbound lanes.
By 3:35 a.m., police had found and stopped the vehicle near Graham Road in West Elgin.
While speaking to the driver, the investigating officer observed signs of intoxication, police say. The driver was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Elgin OPP St. Thomas Detachment for further testing.
A 36-year-old London man is charged with impaired driving.
