Ice cream bandits

A pair of suspects in Wallaceburg may have discovered ice cream isn’t so sweet when it’s stolen.

Shortly after 1 a.m. Aug. 27, an officer on general patrol observed two men on Lowe Avenue in Wallaceburg carrying several boxes of ice cream. That led the officer to discover that a local business had been broken into, prompting them to search the area.

As a result, a 64-year-old Chatham-Kent resident was found a short distance away and arrested for break and enter. Police say the other suspect is still at large.

Assault charges laid

A Chatham man has been arrested for assault following a disturbance on Pearl Crescent Aug. 26.

According to police, officers learned of a recent incident in which an argument escalated, leading to the man allegedly assaulting a woman. The man left prior to police arriving on scene.

On Aug. 27 at 5:30 a.m. the man, 37, turned himself in at C-K police headquarters where he was held for a bail hearing. The suspect is charged with assault with a weapon and two counts of assault.
