A Wallaceburg man faces half a dozen charges in connection with a stolen vehicle investigation by the OPP.

On Sunday at about 2:40 a.m., Lambton OPP received a report of a stolen motor vehicle from an address on St. Clair Parkway, St. Clair Township.

Not long afterwards, police received a traffic complaint involving a vehicle with similar descriptors to the reported stolen vehicle in the same area.

Police promptly located the vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop on St. Clair Parkway, north of Dufferin Avenue. However, the driver failed to stop for police.

In the interest of public safety, the officer did not pursue the vehicle.

About an hour later, police learned of a single-vehicle collision on Chiefs Road, north of Austin Road on Walpole Island First Nation.

The investigating officer quickly deduced the vehicle involved in the collision was the vehicle previously reported stolen and fled from police earlier.

As a result of the investigation, a 33-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested without incident. He is charged with theft of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property, impaired driving, flight from police, driving while under suspension and failure or refusal to comply with demand.

Police wished to thank the people to called in to report this incident.
