Two Chatham men face a variety of charges following a break-in attempt early Monday morning that ended with a police pursuit.

Chatham-Kent police got the call about 1 a.m. for a report of a break-in on Bloomfield Road near Eighth Line. Two men were seen on surveillance footage breaking into the property, police say.

Officers arrived on the scene as the two men fled at a high rate of speed, police say. The vehicle was intercepted, and the two men fled on foot. After a short foot chase, the men were taken into custody without incident.

Officers recovered the stolen property, ammunition and suspected cocaine, prescription drugs, and methamphetamine.

Two Chatham men, aged 31 and 37, were held pending a bail hearing. Both men have been charged with break and enter, mischief, flight from police, obstruct police, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited device/ammunition, and possession of stolen property.
