This man is now safe, after going missing on Lake Erie Thursday, police say.

There’s a happy ending to the missing jet skier.

The man, who went missing Thursday afternoon, was found safe Friday morning on Lake Erie east of Port Glasgow.

Police say they learned the man was missing about 3 p.m. on Thursday.

He was last seen entering Lake Erie from the Rondeau Bay Channel. Police say he was part of a group of five who were out on separate personal watercraft.

One person’s vessel hit an obstruction in the water and was disabled. All but one of the group returned to the marina with the disabled vessel.

The fifth continued on his own out onto the lake.

Members of the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, Canadian Coast Guard, U.S. Coast Guard, Chatham-Kent Fire and Rescue, Elgin OPP, Rondeau Provincial Park and Chatham-Kent Police Service took part in the search.

The man police are only saying is “Jason,” aged 42, was found Friday morning.

The man went missing just a day after a Tilbury teen drowned.

Emergency crews received the call about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday of a report of someone in distress in the water.

The teen, 16, who was unresponsive, was pulled from the water and taken to hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

Police did not reveal the gender of the deceased teen.
