Neither rain nor heat nor thunder could stop the official ground-breaking ceremony of the new $66-million Children’s Treatment Centre of Chatham-Kent Monday.
The special event was marked by a visit from Ontario Minister of Children, Community and Social Services Michael Parsa, who, despite the downpour, was first in line to toss a shovel full of dirt.
Parsa, centre, was given a helping hand by CKCTC Foundation executive director Mike Genge who provided umbrella service.
The province has kicked in $59 million in funding to build the 53,000 square-foot facility. Construction has already started on the new build which is expected to be completed in 2026.
