Teen turns herself in to face assault charges

A Raleigh Township teenager turned herself in to Chatham-Kent poice Tuesday to answer to assault charges.

Police say the assault took place in Chatham on July 18.

Through investigation, police learned a female youth knowingly approached a male youth who was bound by release conditions not to associate with her. The youth began shoving and punched the young man, police say.

The incident was witnessed by independent bystanders.

When the youth could not be located a warrant was issued for her arrest.

The 15-year-old Raleigh Township youth is charged with assault.  

Assault with a screwdriver

A Wallaceburg man faces assault charges after someone used a screwdriver to assault another man Tuesday evening.

Shortly before 6 p.m., police were called to Wallace Street in Wallaceburg for an assault investigation.

A man had attended the home, intoxicated, police say, and began arguing with another man. The argument escalated when the man assaulted the victim with a screwdriver, police say.

The victim sustained minor physical injury and was transported to the hospital for medical attention.

A 61-year-old Wallaceburg man is charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
