Assault police, resist arrest

A Wallaceburg man faces charges after a strange encounter with police Friday afternoon.

Police attended an address on Water Street in Wallaceburg for a disturbance call. Officers located a man they found to be in distress.

While trying to help him, police say he instead tried to barricade himself in a room inside the home.

Officers intervened, and at that time, the man assaulted police and then resisted arrest, police say.

A 35-year-old Wallaceburg man was transported to Sydenham District Hospital for treatment and was subsequently released on an appearance notice with a future court date to answer to charges of assault and resisting arrest.

At the time of the altercation, police arrested another man from the same address.

They say he was trying to obstruct their arrest efforts.

The man was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for mischief, police say.

A 32-year-old Wallaceburg man is charged with obstructing police.
