Weapons charges
A local man faces multiple charges after someone reportedly pulled a knife in a Chatham store Thursday evening.
At 7:20 p.m., police responded to a retail store on St. Clair Street near McNaughton Avenue for a weapons investigation.
Officers learned the man had been previously trespassed from the location. When an employee confronted the man, the man pulled a knife and pointed it in a threatening manner at two employees, police say.
The man left the store prior to police arrival but was located outside.
A 37-year-old Chatham-Kent man is charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of failing to comply with a probation order, two counts of assault, and two counts of assault with a weapon.
Sleeping on the sofa
A Sarnia man faces charges after police say someone broke into a house and was found napping.
Police got the call about 7 p.m. to a Grand Avenue East home for a report of a break-in.
Officers learned the occupants of the residence returned home to find a man, unknown to them, sleeping on the sofa. Officers found him to be under the influence of an intoxicating substance.
The 48-year-old Sarnia man was arrested for break and enter and transported to police headquarters, where he was held until sober.
