An afternoon cycling outing took a bad tumble July 16 when one rider had to be taken to hospital.
Emergency crews got the call midafternoon to Charing Cross Road between Drury Line and Fourteenth Line.
A group of four cyclists were riding single file, northbound on Charing Cross Road, when the lead cyclist hit gravel and lost control of the bike. The rider fell and sustained serious injury.
A 71-year-old New York woman was taken to the hospital by EMS for medical treatment. She was assessed to be in critical condition and subsequently airlifted to a London hospital.
