Editor: My husband has worked all of his life until he turned 70 when he was diagnosed with lung cancer and emphysema.
He always loved to work in the yard and garden. When he got to the point where he could no longer mow the lawn, due to his illnesses, our kids bought him a riding lawn mower.
Now, at least he could continue to enjoy working in the yard. This is the only thing left that my husband can do on his own that gives him a sense of usefulness and accomplishment.
A few weeks ago, someone broke into our garage and stole his rider, along with other items.
To the person who did this, I would say that you did not just take our property, but you took away the last of my husband’s independence.
