Scrap on King Street
Chatham-Kent police ask for the public’s help in getting more information about a weekend brawl on King Street in Chatham.
According to police, three men left a local watering hole just before midnight late Friday evening. A second group of men confronted them near the intersection of King and Fourth streets.
A fight broke out. Police attended just afterwards and one man had to be taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries and released.
Several officers, in the meantime, hit the downtown core, but could not track down the other parties involved. The first three men, all aged 20, remained on scene.

Caught in the act
Sunday morning did not begin well for a Dashwell Road resident, as they found a man and woman trying to break into their vehicle about 9 a.m.
Police were called and learned the suspects fled on bicycles, and were followed by the vehicle’s owner. That person gave a location for their last known whereabouts.
Officer located the man on Queen Street North in Tilbury and arrested him. He is charged with theft.
Drone spots fleeing suspect
Chatham-Kent police used a drone on the weekend to track down a suspect as he fled from a property on Queen’s Line.
A surveillance camera at the local business showed a man on the property. Police were called, and when officers arrived, the man fled into a nearby field.
That’s when officered set up a perimeter and released the drone. The drone found the suspect, and officers closed in.
A man is charged with break and enter. Police say he was also on a release order to not be on that property due to previous incidents.
One assault, two arrests
A Saturday night scuffle saw two people arrested.
Police say a woman went to a man’s address to grab personal belongings. At that time, they started arguing, and police say the man assaulted the woman, then prevented her from leaving and made threats.
Officers were called and learned the man was on conditions not to communicate with the woman as a result of a previous investigation. The woman was aware of the conditions.
As a result of the investigation, both the man and the woman were arrested.
A 19-year-old Chatham woman is charged with failing to comply with an undertaking – facilitation.
A day later, police arrested a 21-year-old Chatham man. He’s charged with failing to comply with an undertaking, assault, uttering threats, and forcible confinement.
