Weapons charges
Chatham-Kent police say a man brandished a knife Thursday morning while confronting a woman, and it landed him under arrest.
The incident took place shortly after 8 a.m. on Duke Street in Chatham.
Officers learned a man confronted the victim about blowing smoke out of her car window as she passed him on the street. The man brandished a flip knife in his hand during the confrontation, police say.
Officers located the man and learned he was bound by a release order prohibiting him from possessing a weapon.
A 60-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested and held pending a bail hearing. He is charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and failing to comply with a release order.
Woman assaulted; man arrested
Police responded to Westcourt Boulevard in Wallaceburg for an assault investigation Thursday afternoon.
Officers learned an altercation occurred between a man and a woman, resulting in the man assaulting the woman, police say.
Officers also learned the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for an April 2023 fraud investigation.
A 45-year-old Walpole Island man faces a charge of fraud and two counts of assault.
Armed man faces charges
Police located the man on Delaware Avenue in Chatham on Thursday afternoon.
Officers confirmed he was wanted on several outstanding warrants and was arrested. But while police searched the man during the arrest, they found several weapons in his possession, including an airsoft pistol, a knife, and brass knuckles. Suspected cocaine was also found and seized.
Officers confirmed the man was bound by several forms of release prohibiting him from possessing any weapons.
A 34-year-old Chatham man was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. He is charged with failing to comply with a release order, failing to comply with a probation order, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a controlled substance and possession of an unauthorized weapon.
