Assault suspect captured
Police spotted a man on Duke Street in Chatham Sunday afternoon and took up the chase.
They confirmed he was wanted on an outstanding warrant related to an October 2023 assault investigation in Chatham.
The man fled as police stopped to speak with him. After a short foot pursuit, the man was taken into custody.
A 32-year-old Chatham Kent man was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. The man is currently facing the following charges: failing to attend court and two counts of assault with a weapon.
Alleged rock chucker arrested
A Bothwell woman is in custody after police say she threw a rock at a pickup truck Sunday evening in Bothwell.
Officers learned the victim was approached by two women who attempted to intimidate her, police say. One woman threw a rock at a truck, causing damage to the windshield. Officers located the woman and arrested her.
A 33-year-old Bothwell woman is charged with mischief.
Skipped court dates
Two local folks were scooped up on Sunday for failing to attend scheduled court dates.
It began at 10:43 a.m. when police located a woman on Wallace Street in Wallaceburg. Officers confirmed the woman was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court in relation to theft investigations.
A 28-year-old Wallaceburg woman was arrested and released with a new court date. She is currently facing the following charges: resist arrest, possession of stolen property, two counts of theft and two counts of failing to attend court.
At 7 p.m., police responded to Colborne Street in Chatham for a trespassing investigation.
Upon arrival, police located a man collecting his personal property from the backyard. Police confirmed he was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court in relation to an impaired driving investigation.
A 58-year-old Moraviantown man was arrested and released with a new court date. He is currently facing the following charges: failing to attend court, impaired driving, and possession of a controlled substance.
