1 injured in fire in Merlin

One man had to be airlifted to hospital with serious injuries Monday morning following a fire and several explosions in Merlin.

Chatham-Kent police say it was a garage fire, which occurred at 26 William Street in the community.

Chatham-Kent Fire and Rescue officials say crews were dispatched just before 8 a.m.  Monday morning to fight the fire. Crews from Merlin, Raleigh South, and Tilbury all attended.

CK Fire investigators are currently on scene and the Office of Fire Marshal is also attending.

The fire is under investigation and no future details will be released at this time, officials say.
