DVD player stolen in front of owner

Chatham-Kent police are looking for whomever was brazen enough for an evening break-in Thursday in Blenheim.

About 6:45 p.m., the victim contacted police to report a theft.

Someone broke into a Catherine Street home in Blenheim, entering through a window, and proceeded to remove a DVD player. The suspect was confronted by the homeowner, at which time the suspect fled the residence on foot, police say.

Court date came, but he didn’t show

Chatham-Kent police received a noontime bonus on Thursday, when a neighboring police service called to say they had located a man with an outstanding Chatham warrant for failing to attend court.

A 38-year-old man of no fixed address was subsequently arrested and transported to Chatham-Kent Police headquarters, where he was held for bail.

Warrant arrest

Police chanced upon a man in Chatham on Thursday who was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

At about 4:30 p.m., officers spotted the man on Murray Street in Chatham.

A 33-year-old man of no fixed address on a theft charge.
