A two-vehicle crash Monday evening on Queen’s Line sent six people to hospital.
According to Chatham-Kent police, the crash took place shortly before 9 p.m. at the intersection of Merlin Road and Queen’s Line. A westbound vehicle turned south onto Merlin Road in front of the eastbound vehicle, leading to the crash.
As a result of the impact, one of the vehicles veered off the roadway and came to rest in a ditch on the southeast corner of the intersection, while the other vehicle remained in the eastbound lane facing west.
The westbound vehicle had the driver and five passengers in it, while the eastbound vehicle only had the driver.
Six people in total were taken to hospital. Police say one was airlifted to London hospital immediately, while two others were transferred by land ambulance to hospitals in London and Windsor for added medical attention.
The traffic unit is still piecing together what happened. Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to contact Const. Joel Rehill at joelr@chatham-kent.ca or call 519-355-1092.
