Assault, resisting arrest
A Chatham-Kent woman faces charges after an altercation at a Grand Avenue West Business in Chatham Sunday afternoon.
The woman involved had previously been banned from the business, police say, but entered anyway and refused to leave when asked by the employees.
This led to a physical altercation, resulting in minor injuries to one of the employees, police say.
The woman left the scene before the police arrived but was found nearby shortly after. When the officers tried to arrest her, she attempted to flee, leading to a short pursuit on foot.
A 32-year-old Chatham-Kent woman was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where she was held pending a bail hearing. She is charged with assault causing bodily harm, escape lawful custody, and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.
Dogged determination
A Saturday morning break-in attempt didn’t end well for the suspects, as police released the hounds on them.
Police were called about 2:20 a.m. to a James Street business in Wallaceburg.
Officers searched the building, with the help of police dog Helix.
The patrol pooch found two suspects inside, and as a result, a 34-year-old male and a 35-year-old male, both from Wallaceburg, were arrested and charged for break and enter.
Strange encounter leads to charges
A woman faces charges after someone went to a house in Chatham and began asking questions about the children who lived there.
Police say they were called Friday night to a residence on Second Street in Chatham.
A 27-year-old woman is charged with mischief.
Assault arrest
A late-Sunday morning present for Chatham-Kent police came in the form of a captured suspect courtesy the OPP.
The OPP said they had a woman in custody from an investigation that same day in Wallaceburg.
A 25-year-old Walpole Island woman was transported to police headquarters, where she was released with conditions and a future court date. She is charged with assault causing bodily harm.
