Auditions for Theatre Kent’s fall production of Jesus Christ Superstar begin this weekend.
This marks the first large-scale musical production since the pandemic for the theatre company, and it’s looking for men and women aged 14-plus for all principal and ensemble roles. Non-traditional casting will be considered. Additionally, there are a limited number of ensemble roles available for children, aged eight to 13.
The show will take place at the Chatham Capitol Theatre and will be directed by Jamie Johnston and featuring musical direction by Tom Overton.
Auditions for the adult roles take place Sunday between 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., Monday between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Wednesday, also between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
The children’s auctions take place Sunday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
All auditions take place at St. Andrew’s Church on William Street South in Chatham.
Cast hopefuls are asked to prepare one song in the style of 1960s/70s rock and to refrain from selecting a song from the show itself. A pianist and Bluetooth speaker will be provided to accompany audition pieces.
