Youth arrested for assault

One of the Saturday suspects from a scrap on King Street in Chatham earned a trip to Chatham-Kent police headquarters Wednesday morning in the back of a cruiser.

About 9:20 a.m., police located the youth on Cecile Avenue in Chatham. The youth was wanted on an outstanding warrant in relation to the May 25 weapons investigation.

A 15-year-old Chatham male youth now has a future court date to answer to charges of uttering threats, using a firearm while committing an offence, two counts of aggravated assault, and two counts of assault with a weapon.

Assault in Wallaceburg

Early Wednesday evening, police responded to a disturbance on Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg.

Upon arrival, officers located the man and confirmed he was wanted on an outstanding warrant related to a 2022 assault investigation.

A 40-year-old Walpole Island man was arrested and released with a future court date. He has been charged with assault, and two counts of assault causing bodily harm.

Harassment charges

Police began investigating an intimate partner violence complaint in Merlin Wednesday evening.

Through investigation, officers learned the man had threatened to cause harm to his former girlfriend.

A 28-year-old Chatham man was located and arrested. He is charged with criminal harassment and uttering threats.

Bail violations

Local police went and scooped up a man in an out-of-town jail Wednesday afternoon to answer to more charges here.

Chatham-Kent officers went to Elgin Middlesex Detention Centre in London and arrested the man on a bench warrant.

A 36-year-old Port Stanley man was brought back here for a bail hearing. He is currently facing the following charges: public mischief, failing to comply with an release order, failing to comply with an undertaking, two counts of failing to comply with a probation order, five counts of criminal harassment, and seven counts of failing to comply with a release order.

Neighbourly threats

A Tilbury man has to answer to charges of allegedly threating his neighbour.

Police went to Oak Street in Tilbury on Wednesday afternoon to investigate.

Officers learned the man threatened to harm his neighbour earlier in the day. Further investigation revealed a similar incident occurred on May 18, police say. The man was located and arrested.

Upon a search incident to arrest officers seized suspected methamphetamine, and various rounds of ammunition.

A 55-year-old Tilbury man was held pending a bail hearing. He is charged with possession of a controlled substance, unauthorized possession of ammunition, and two counts of uttering threats.

Missed court dates

Dumpster diving at police headquarters will get you noticed.

That was the case Wednesday evening as police say two individuals were observed dumpster diving in the parking lot of police headquarters.

The man and woman were identified. Officers learned the woman was wanted on an outstanding bench warrant for failing to attend court in relation to a Feb. 5 break-and-enter investigation in Tilbury.

A 37-year-old Chatham Kent woman is facing possession of stolen property charges.

At 7:06 p.m., a woman attended Chatham-Kent Police headquarters and turned herself in.

The woman was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court in relation to a March 10 fire/attempt murder investigation in Chatham.

A 47-year-old Chatham woman was held pending a bail hearing. She is currently facing the following charges: failing to attend court and break-and-enter.

About 30 minutes later, police located a woman on Margaret Avenue in Wallaceburg. Officers confirmed she was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court in relation to several investigations.

A 47-year-old Wallaceburg woman was arrested and transported to police headquarters where she was held pending a bail hearing. She is currently charged with careless storage of a firearm, possession of prohibited or restricted firearm/ammunition, two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, and two counts of failing to attend court.

Theft arrest

Police located a man on Wellington Street in Chatham Wednesday evening about 10:30 p.m. Officers confirmed the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for a May 15 theft investigation in Chatham.

A 27-year-old Chatham-Kent man is charged with theft and possession of stolen property.
