Friday’s activities kickoff off a weekend of events designed to raise awareness around the crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. Red Dress Day is marked annually on May 5.

Drummer Fatima Taylor was among those who walked to raise awareness of Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls in Chatham May 3.

Symbolic red dresses were hung by volunteers and students at Deshkan Ziibi on King Street in Chatham.

A sacred fire was lit, and Grandmother teachings were part of the weekend of events.
