Crash sends 3 to hospital

A three-vehicle crash on Tuesday late afternoon sent three people to hospital.

According to the OPP, the crash took place on Communication Road at the intersection of Creek Road.

It was determined that a vehicle initially travelling northbound on Communication Road attempted to turn west onto Creek Road and collided with another vehicle travelling southbound. This collision resulted in a secondary crash between the turning vehicle and a third vehicle stopped at the intersection.

For protection of emergency responders and to facilitate the investigation, a section of Communication Road was closed temporarily.

The two drivers and a passenger from vehicles involved in the initial collision were transported to hospital for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the stationary vehicle was assessed by EMS on-scene, reported no serious injuries, and declined transport to hospital.

As a result of the investigation, the driver of the northbound vehicle, a 55-year-old from Chatham, was charged with careless driving.

Warrant and bail violations

It seemed like a day of outstanding warrant and bail violation arrests, but a Chatham woman won the day by being arrested for both on Tuesday.

About 9 p.m. Tuesday, police got a call from a Chatham business to report a woman behaving in a suspicious manner on their premises.

Officers arrived and identified the woman as a suspect in an ongoing fraud investigation.

A 38-year-old Chatham woman was arrested for one count of fraud and taken to headquarters to be booked. At that time, police realized she had also just violated conditions of a release order.

In the morning, police located a 32-year-old woman on Park Street and arrested her on an outstanding warrant.

In mid-afternoon, a 31-year-old Chatham man earned a ride in a cruiser after being arrested for bail violations.

Police say he violated his release order by speaking to a woman with whom he was to have no communication.

As the clock struck midnight and delivered us into May, police in Wallaceburg arrested a man wanted on an outstanding warrant.

The arrest of the 33-year-old Wallaceburg man took place on Wallace Street.
