Stolen ride found with occupants inside
Two Chatham residents face charges after police spotted them inside a stolen vehicle on Wednesday afternoon.
Shortly after 1:15 p.m., an officer’s Automatic Licence Plate Reader detected a stolen motor vehicle on St. Clair Street in Chatham. The vehicle was located parked at a nearby business, with a male and female inside.
A 34-year-old woman and a 58-year-old man, both of Chatham, were arrested for possession of property obtained by crime.
As the investigation progressed, police discovered that the man was also breaching a probation order.
Break and enter
Sometime over the past few days, someone broke into a garage on Henry O Way in Chatham and made off with about $5,500 in goods.
Police were called Wednesday evening. The thief gained entry by kicking in the door to the detached garage.

Sleeping on the sidewalk
A late-morning nap outside a Keil Drive business earned a man a visit from the police Wednesday, followed by a free ride to headquarters.
At approximately 11:19 a.m., police responded to a complaint of a male sleeping outside of a business on Keil Drive in Chatham. During the investigation, the officer confirmed that the male was wanted on an outstanding DNA warrant.
The male was arrested and transported to CKPS headquarters where the DNA warrant was executed.
Warrant arrest
A Wednesday evening well-being check led to the arrest of a woman in Chatham.
At approximately 10:10 p.m., police went to check on the well-being of a female. The female was located in the area of Cross Street.
At this time, it was discovered that she was wanted on an outstanding warrant missing a court date.
