St. Clair College recently held its ninth annual Powerline Rodeo.

Students competed in 10 events over two days: pole top rescue, don’t break the egg, ring the bell off spurs, insulator change, installing storm guys, grounding leap frog, installing grounds off spurs, RBD hand signal, frame off the pole, and team climbing relay.

The college has 150 students in its powerline program. In fact, St. Clair is the largest provider of the powerline technician program in the province.

A total of 22 employers came out to view the rodeo.

As well, organizers gave out a rodeo award in honour of Sylvain Lessard, a powerline graduate, who died in a car accident in the fall of 2023.
